snack #1 in regards to Janelles inquiry i believe that the woman in hamlet died a seemingly peaceful death (compered to stabbing and force drinking poison) because they played minor roles in the play. ophelia who was pure and sweet died in the river covered in he flowers, hamlets mother died from taking a drink of poison. i think Shakespeare wanted to end there place in the play quick in order to speed along the plot.

I don't think the women had a peaceful death, I feel like they suffered as much as the males. and I still want to emphasize that back in the time of Shakespeare, divine right was a big deal and keeping the ruling within the same blood was VERY important. The deaths however did symbolize their places in society and how high up on the Chain of Being they were.
